Fine Wines

Chianti is probably the best known of Italy's wine producing regions and was first defined in 1716. Wines produced in the area are protected by the DOCG and are world-renowned for their quality.

The Villa di Geggiano vineyards are located in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, southern part of the Chianti Classico production area, near Siena at an altitude ranging from 300 to 350 metres. The average age of the vines is about twelve years, but some Sangiovese plants have been preserved over twenty-five years.

The first documents testifying to the family’s wine making activities dates back to 1725 when Niccolò Bandinelli, who had been producing wine in the cellars of the Villa, started exporting to Great Britain.

Today, brothers Andrea and Alessandro Boscu Bianchi Bandinelli, and partner Malcolm Caplan, follow the principles of organic farming in the management of the 50 acre estate. Organic farming and traditional wine making techniques, combined with the careful selection of grapes, ensure the production of top quality wines for prestigious shops, restaurants and hotels.

The recently renovated vinification cellar is equipped exclusively with steel vats, and the ageing cellar has a natural moisture content and a temperature ideal for maturation. Casks and barrels of French oak are used for the maturing process producing approximately 40,000 bottles of fine wine each year.

We arrange regular tours of the vineyard and the cellars along with wine tasting for groups of eight or more.
